As far as I experience, emotions can't be expressed in one word. I don't believe in the word "joy", "sadness" or "regret"...
I'd like to have at its disposal complicated hybrid long German design type "a feeling of happiness that accompanies a disaster" or "disappointment in love with his own fantasy." Then I'd show how the "fear of death caused by aging family members" connected with "the hatred of mirrors that occur in middle age". I would like to find a definition of "grief associated with the destruction of the restaurant" and "the excitement caused by the appearance in the room mini-bar".
