The aesthetics of abstinence is not, in principle. Person able to go into work for a few months, is perceived as a mad scientist, nerd, workaholic - in a word, crazy. Not to mention monasticism, which is clearly regarded as a manifestation of religious fanaticism. And "in the world" surely can't be valid reasons for chastity, moderation - and that is suspicious.
