Osho (Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh). The Messiah: Commentary on "the Prophet" of Kahlil Gibran Kalil (№ 211348)

Remember, home and house are two completely different things. Home - dead. Until they are filled with your love, your silence, your song. While your home was not a reflection of your dancing heart, it's dead. But as soon as it settled love, gratitude and celebration, the home is no longer home - it becomes a home. It comes to life. It begins to breathe. It is filled with your scent.
The next step is when the house becomes a temple. When your meditation reaches such depths that you feel like you're pregnant with God, your house becomes a temple. But millions of people are not lucky enough, they continue to dwell in homes. Even transform this house into a home seems too difficult for them. And because of the impossibility to transform your house into a temple, they build the outer temples, they build churches, cathedrals, where it will dwell in God.
But I say unto you: no Church, no temple, no synagogue can become the refuge of God, if you do not primarily become a place of divinity. If this series of transformations - from home to home, from home to the temple - happened, the world would not need churches, temples, mosques. People go to Church - is absurd. The Church must come to their hearts and totally transform their habitat, making it sacred, Holy, divine place.
Leave your shoes outside the house. Leave yourself outside the house. If you leave your shoes outside, so your home became your home. If you leave outside also, so it became a temple, and you tread on sacred ground.
