It is a condition when the dead-tired person trying to stay awake; he knows to close his eyes - then to sleep, but thinks to himself that one second won't matter, two seconds and ten seconds, too - not so much... and falls into oblivion. If we analyze the situation, it appears that he is struggling too much.
