Benjamin Franklin. (№ 331149)

I have lived a lot, and the longer I live, the more I see convincing evidence of the truth that God governs in the Affairs of men. And if a Sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His knowledge, is it possible that an Empire could rise without His aid?
We believe in the words of Scripture that "unless the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it" (PS. 126:1). I firmly believe that, and I also believe that without appropriate assistance we will succeed in the political building no better than the builders of Babel: we share our little private interests, our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves make a byword to future ages.
