Marcus Aurelius. To himself (№ 336699)

Don't waste the rest of your life in thoughts about others, if you don't relate them to something useful for everyone. In fact miss other [important] thing, thinking about what makes so-and-so and for what purpose, and what he says and what he has in mind and what tricks it uses, and all that gives rise to the deviation from their own leadership. Therefore, it is necessary to remove from the clutch of thoughts [all] disorderly and useless, and most of all the vanity and zlonravie; and need to train yourself to produce such representations, which, if someone suddenly asked you: "what are you thinking now?", you can easily immediately said, that is just about that - so the words themselves have discovered that you are full of simplicity and benevolence and that is inherent in life for the common good, and man, neglecting the thoughts of [their own] pleasure, or even of pleasures, [ignore] any rivalry or slander and suspicion, or anything else, the memory of what would make you ashamed that you have such in mind.
