Ray Bradbury. The end of the initial (№ 4180)

I know one thing: it's the end of the primary pores. Stone age, Bronze age, Iron age - now we are all that we find one common name: the century, when we walked the Earth and in the morning early in the morning listening to birds and almost cried with envy. Maybe we'll call this Earth age, or the Age of earth's gravity. Millions of years we have tried to overcome gravity. When we were amoebas and fish we struggled to get out of the waters of the ocean, so much so that we are not crushed by their own weight. Once on shore, we tried to straighten up and to the force of gravity will not break our new invention - the spine. We learned to walk, without stumbling, and run without falling. Millions of years gravity kept us home, and the wind and the clouds, grasshoppers and moths mocked us. That's what is most important today: the end of our old companion - the attraction, the age of attraction has passed forever. Don't know what will be considered the beginning of a new era - maybe the Persians, they dreamed of flying carpet, maybe the Chinese - they are, when celebrating a birthday or New year, launched into the sky fireworks and kites; and maybe the score will start in an hour, unknown to what minute or second. But now ends the era of the long and hard efforts, millions of years - they worked hard for we humans after all do us honor.
