There can be no talk of any Ukrainian independent state. Their leaders, yesterday's laborers for the Little Russian sugar refiners and Polish magnates, believe that the state is a village, that they can build it as if they were digging up a vegetable garden after dancing vodka. Ukrainians are the standard of bragging and parochial narrow-mindedness, seeing nothing further than the ditch of their farm.
