The warrior knows about his suspense and knows what he expects. When he waits, he has no desire and therefore, whatever little he may get is always more than he can take. If he wants to eat, we'll deal with it because you don't suffer from hunger. If he's hurt, you can handle it because it is not in pain. To be hungry or in pain means that the man is not a warrior, and the power of hunger or pain could destroy it.
