Recall that natural numbers are whole numbers:
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11...
This is the most basic and fundamental form of numbers. It is possible to quantify any discrete entity: it is possible to speak about the twenty-seven sheep in a field, two flashes of lightning, twelve nights, a thousand words, four interviews, zero new ideas, one error, six missing, the double direction change, etc.
