Carlos Castaneda. The teachings of don Juan (№ 158)
When a person starts to learn, he never has a clear idea of the obstacles. Its purpose is vague, its intent is unstable. He was awaiting a reward that never will get, because not yet aware of the trials ahead. Gradually he begins to learn - first slowly, then all successful. And soon he comes in confusion. What he learns is never the same as what he drew, and his fear. Teaching is not always what is expected of him.
