Irving Stone. The agony and the ecstasy (№ 252336)

Here he cuts a "Victory." Victory over whom? Over what? If he doesn't know who the Winner is, how can he say who the Vanquished? Under the feet of the Winner, he carved the face and head of the Vanquished - old, crushed by the misfortune of a person... herself, himself? So he's probably going to look like in ten years or twenty, with a long gray beard. What broke it? Years? Surely the Winner is the Youth, because only to his youth, a person is able to imagine that you can be a Winner? All features of the Vanquished felt life experience, and wisdom, and suffering - and yet he was trodden down, once at the feet of a young man. Isn't it in all ages flouted the wisdom and experience? Not crushes their time, personified as a youth?
