- My parents died when I was six and I was sent to an orphanage in London. Horrible place... But entertaining for someone who's interested in human nature. In a sense, I'm grateful.

- Sorrow tend to temper the character. In the orphanage I realized what will be my life's work to help those who are abandoned and miserable, to give these poor fellows a little bit of good and hope in a cruel world.
