Marcus Aurelius. To himself (№ 336609)

Whether you live three thousand, or thirty thousand years, still remember that no man loses other life than that which lives [at the moment], and lives a different life,
except for the one that loses [at the moment]. In this regard, the longest life is very short. Because currently the same for everyone, and endangered species [so too] the same, and lose so little. After all, no past, no future to lose, no one can, because how can lose someone in order that he does not? So always remember two truths: the first - ever all has the same base and rotates in a circle, and therefore does not care to observe those same things in the span of a hundred or two hundred years or in the infinity of time; second the same - that person is very elderly, and very soon dead lose one and the same. Because the present is the only thing they can lose, so as soon as they have, and what man has not, he loses.
