I think all work is like that. All paid so much that the person continued to work to did not send all to hell and gone aimlessly. Or maybe it has something to do with the current stage of capitalism. In the sense that the wage does not matter, because the cost of things which we think make a decent living, don't allow to escape from the wheel. We are programmed to dissatisfaction with what we have. We feel unhappy; we were led to believe that the only way out is to achieve some mythical level of wealth that will allow nothing to worry about.
