Hermann Hesse. Siddhartha (№ 386493)

When thrown into the water stone, he hurries by the shortest route to the bottom. That's the way it is when Siddhartha has a goal, when he makes a decision. Siddhartha does nothing, he waits, he thinks, he fasts, but he passes through the things of the world exactly a stone through water, without doing anything, without stirring; he is drawn, he lets himself fall. The goal attracted him, for he does not allow his soul anything that could oppose the goal.
