Lyudmila Ulitskaya. Daniel Stein, translator (№ 90892)

What do call miracles? What, no one saw that never happened? What goes beyond our experience? That contradicts common sense? Which is unlikely, or happens so rarely that such an event no witnesses? (...)
From my experience, I can say: a miracle is known by the mind that creates art God. Does this mean that miracles do not happen with non-believers? It does not. Because the mind of an unbeliever is so arranged that it will be to explain the miracle by natural causes, theory of probability, or the exception to the rule. For the believer a miracle is the intervention of God in the natural course of events, and the mind of a believer is happy and filled with gratitude when a miracle occurs.
