Book: Why I write

Loneliness has developed is peculiar to such children the habit to write stories and talk with imaginary companions. And I think from the very start my literary ambitions were mixed feeling isolated and undervalued. I knew I know the word and that I have enough will power to face unpleasant facts, and I felt - this creates a personal world in which I can regain what you lose in the everyday world.

The great mass of human beings, in General, not proud. After about thirty years they lose their personal ambitions (and often almost completely losing the sense of individuality), and live primarily for others, or slowly suffocate from the tedious work. But among them there is always the minority of gifted, stubborn people who are determined to live their own lives to the end, and writers belong to this type. I would say that the serious writers on the whole more vain and self-centered than journalists, though less interested in money.

The creation of a book is a horrible, soul, exhausting struggle, like a long fit of painful disease. No one would undertake such a thing if it encouraged some kind of demon, the demon can neither understand nor confront him. And as far as can be judged, the demon this is the same instinct that makes a baby scream, attracting the attention of adults. At the same time, holds more - you can't write anything interesting, unless you are trying to get rid of himself.
