The artist has no time to listen to critics. Criticism interesting to someone who is just going to be a writer, and the man who writes does not have time to read criticism.

No one except me, did not know what and how I write. I myself always knew well and precisely I wrote or not. Nobody else could say. If I thought that was good, I didn't care what anybody might think.

The books I read, I read for many years. The old Testament, Dickens, Flaubert, Balzac, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Shakespeare. It's old friends.
