We never believe what is in front of us. We rather tend to believe in what intuition tells us, and then compare it with your own experience. Perhaps that is why the old lady living next to a serial killer, usually giving interviews to reporters, roll their eyes, telling how "sweet, wonderful little boy he was." You refuse to believe that evil exists, you carefully close their eyes, with blunt stubbornness trying to find something good "deep down" someone who has long ceased to be human.
