We so often deceive ourselves that could do this for a living...

All lies. Some just lie to themselves.

I never cheated on anyone. But I allow people to be deceived. They tried very hard to find out who I really am. But it is easy to come up with me. And I'm willing to bet with them. They love me like I never was. And when they discover this, will accuse me of cheating..
The truth is I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves. They didn't bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn't argue with them. They were obviously loving somebody I wasn't. When they found this out, they would blame me for disillusioning them and fooling them.

The worst kinds of lies are the lies we tell ourselves just before we go to sleep. The lies that say 'I'm happy', or 'He's happy', or 'This will all be over', or 'I can change', or 'He'll change his mind', or ‘I don't need her', or 'I don't need him.'
The worst lie is the one we tell ourselves before going to sleep. We whisper to her in her sleep, convincing ourselves that we are happy or he is happy; that you can change yourself or it will change the decision; persuade yourself that you can accept the loss. Every night before bed, we lie to ourselves in the desperate, vain hope that the lies will become the truth.

People who used to deceive others, can easily be deceived himself: he can believe in anything, because he believes that anyone can cheat.

Oh, do not deceive me hard!..
I delude myself happy!
