Henry David Thoreau. Walden, or Life in the woods (№ 189777)

I think we would much more trust in life than we do. We could cut care about yourself at least as much as we pay to others. Nature is adapted to our weakness no less than of our strength. The incessant anxiety and tension in which they live other people, is a kind of incurable disease. We are told an exaggerated notion of the importance of our work, and yet how much we leave undone! What if we fell ill? We are always on the lookout! We are determined not to live by faith, if it can be avoided; and had lived the whole day in anxiety, at night we unwillingly we say our prayers and commit ourselves to the unknown. It is very "thoroughly" we have to live; we honor our way of life and deny the possibility of change. Otherwise it is impossible, we say, and meanwhile ways to live there as long as you can hold radii from one centre.
