Theophile Gautier. (№ 221562)

Peep ray - and half asleep serious
Aged, missing the warmth,
In the corner between the dog and the tramp
As an equal I'll lie on the ground.
Two-thirds of life lost around the world,
In the hope to live before I get old
And as a player the last coin,
Put on the line the remaining third.
No I'm not cute or I'm cute;
My soul with me along the way;
Me me grave -
And I dead the dead in the flesh.
Barely a shadow will be drawn to the ruins
I will cling to the cold sand
And, the cold penetrated the snake,
Will slip into my silent anguish.
