Reason works for its master when there is faith. If a person does not believe that he can be helped, help will not come. This is evidenced by the nocebo effect. We've all heard about the placebo effect, where beliefs and attitudes lead to a consistent outcome. Nocebo is the opposite concept. When the mind is attuned to illness, it creates a conducive environment and develops it. It all ultimately comes down to our thoughts.
