James Joyce. Ulysses (№ 436085)

I would wish that all people, without distinction of faiths and classes, would have a modest but decent income, not something beggarly. This is vital and quite achievable, and, moreover, it would contribute to greater cordiality between people. At least that's my point of view, whether it's true or not. This is what I call patriotism.
