Character: Solid Snake (Steel Serpent)

The war has changed. It's not nation, ideology, ethnicity. It is an endless series of battles in which I fight people and machines. War and waste of life to become a well-oiled mechanism. Soldiers with ID are able to use weapons with ID and equipment ID. Nano-machines in their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Control the battlefield, genetics, information, emotions - all under the supervision and control. The age of deterrence gave way to the age of control all in the name of avoiding a catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction. And he who controls the battlefield, controls history itself. When the battlefield is under constant control, war becomes routine.
