Mendel gave off light and heat. You wanted to be close to him, to warm hands, to melt the ice on the beard. Banish the gloom for a minute or two. And when you left from Mendel, you still kept warm, and it seemed that in the world a bit more light, maybe one candle only. And then you realized that this fire is within you and has always been there. That's a miracle. Just like that.
