Frank Herbert. Dune (№ 130767)

The sense of grandeur is transitory. It is fickle and inconsistent. Partly it depends on mythic-creative imagination of humanity. The person experiencing the greatness must feel of myth interwoven with his life. It needs to reflect the fact that this myth is projected onto it. And it needs to be especially ironic because the irony keeps him from belief in his own greatness, it is the only thing that will give him mobility inside. Without this quality, even occasional greatness will destroy a man.
