William Somerset Maugham. The moon and sixpence (№ 187028)

Life is harsh and cruel. No one knows why we are here and where we go. Humility is becoming to us. We should appreciate the beauty of peace. Have to go through life humbly and quietly so that fate does not notice us. And love we must look at the ordinary, unpretentious people. Their ignorance is better than knowledge. We need to be quiet, to be content with their modest area, be gentle and kind as they are. That's the whole wisdom of life.
