Robert J Mackenzie. Stubborn child: how to set boundaries (№ 434363)

If our words consistently align with our actions, children learn to take them seriously and accept the rules behind them. When our words are at odds with our actions, children learn to ignore them, while their beliefs are based on what is happening in real life. As a result, we teach two different rules: a rule in theory and a rule in practice.
