I understand that a person cannot be a good father and a good outlaw.

The day will come when you will have to make decisions that will affect the lives of everyone you love. Choices that will change you forever. As an adult, you will understand what it means to be a man. This does not mean respect or power. It means to take responsibility for their actions. Children face inward, wallow in their own selfish desires. Men think about and act on the basis of their needs.

It's hard not to hate people, things, institutions when they break your spirit and rejoice in watching you bleed. Hatred often makes sense. But I know what hate does to a man: she breaks it, transforms into something that he promised himself never to become.

There's an old saying: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". I think what's trying to kill us, makes us angry and sad. Strength comes from the good things: family, friends, the satisfaction of hard work. Those are the things that will keep you whole. Those are the things to hold onto when you're broken.
