Book: The first book idle idle man

It reminded me, incidentally, about a different kind of weather, which I can't stand about the April weather (so called April, because it always comes in may). Poets consider her to be pretty. She didn't know what it will be in five minutes, and because they compare it with a woman; that supposedly lies its charm. I personally disapprove. Like lightning variability may be good in a girl - apparently, extremely nice to deal with a person who is smiling right now what is unknown, and in a minute shedding tears for the same reason, and then giggles, and then sulks, which is simultaneously rough and tender, grim and cheerful, noisy and silent, hot-tempered and unflappable, passionate and apathetic. (Keep in mind - these are not my words. This is all the poets. And they say that they are experts in such matters!) But the weather the disadvantages of this system are more visible. Tears women you won't get wet, and rain for sure; its coldness will drive you to asthma and rheumatism, and cold East wind can. I can prepare for normal bad weather and to put up with her, but a sort of jumble for me. It annoys me the bright blue sky above my head if I go soaking wet; no nerves can not stand, when after heavy rain the sun comes out smiling from behind the clouds it says: "my goodness, do you really wet? Surprising, honestly. Why, I was only joking!"

I especially hate wet weather in town. Actually, I'm not so much against rain, but against the mud, because, apparently, have for her some sort of irresistible attractive force. In a rainy day just enough for me to appear on the street, and I'm already half-covered with mud. All because of what some of us are much to look at, as said the old woman when she was struck by lightning. Other people can leave the house in bad weather and spent hours wandering the streets, staying perfectly clean, and I just go over the road, and I already feel ashamed to look (as would say my late mother, when I was a boy). If London is just one little piece of dirt, I am sure that will discourage him from all applicants.

Tell his girlfriend that she is a true angel, more real than any angel in heaven; that she is a goddess, but only more graceful, majestic and divine, than just a goddess; she is more like a fairy than Titania herself that she's prettier than Venus, more seductive Partenopei, in short, more worthy of love, more brilliant and attractive than any other woman who ever lived, lives or will live in this world, and this will produce the most favorable impression upon her trusting little heart. Sweet, naive girl! She'll believe your every word. There is nothing easier than to cheat a woman... that way.

Angels of a kind superior being, but we poor mortals are, what their society would have seemed unbearably boring. Just good people and then there are several a damper on all the others. It is in our mistakes and weaknesses, not in our virtues, we find points of convergence and sources of understanding.

There is a vanity of the peacock, is the vanity of the eagle. Snobs are vain. But vain and heroes.

We are so vain, never to stoop to a petty, vile act. So conceited to erase itself in petty-bourgeois selfishness and stupid jealousy. So vain, never to utter cruel words, never committing a violent act. Let proud of everyone who will maintain the firmness and rectitude of the noble man, even surrounded by villains. And Yes we earn the right to be proud of pure thoughts, great achievements and life, full of high sense!

Every ambition there is nothing like a refined vanity.

Gentle, humble souls, they hate flattery, so they tell you, and you have to answer: "Oh, my treasure, would I flatter you? Because to you it's obvious and unvarnished truth. You really and without exaggeration the most beautiful, the kindest, the most charming, the most divine, the most perfect creature that ever walked on our land." And each of them appreciatively smile and say that you are, in General, a nice guy.

Memory is a witch who conjures up spirits. It is like a house inhabited by ghosts, where incessantly hear the echo of someone invisible steps.

Listen to us, so weather is always bad. She said the government always to blame. In the summer we say that the heat can't breathe in the winter - the cold is a killer in spring and autumn we condemn the weather for the fact that we are not cold and not hot, dream that it had decided this issue in one way or another. If the sun is shining, we say that the village is dying without rain; if it rains, we pray for good weather. If doesn't fell the snow, we indignantly ask, what has become of our glorious ancient winters, and talk as if we have tricked took that long bought and paid for; and when there is snow, we use expressions unworthy of a Christian. We will be dissatisfied until, until each of us will not make their own weather, and alone to use it. If this cannot be arranged, we would prefer to do without any weather.

I am glad that there are still soft hearts of women. Rather that do something we men are cold and reasonable: like us women, we do not need. No, no, dear ladies, do not be afraid of my words. Stay sensitive and soft-hearted; be the soothing butter to our dry pressing bread.

Standing alone among the fields, beneath the darkening vault of the sky, we realize that we signed something greater than our poor life. The world, on all sides, close woven from the grey shadows of the curtains, turns us from the ordinary Studio in a majestic Church, where we are drawn to pray and where, in this mysterious mist, our open forward hands touch God Himself.

It is sad, but the vanity that is the true force that drives the chariot of humanity, and nothing like flattery, lubricate the running wheels. If you want to win the love and respect in this world flatter people. Flatter high and low, rich and poor, stupid and clever, and then you all will go like clockwork. Praise one virtue, the other - vices. Praise everyone for all the qualities which he has, but in particular for those whom he is not in sight. Admire the beauty freak wit of the fool, the manners rude, and you will exalt to the skies for a bright mind and a delicate taste.

Indeed, we each have a belief that the entire universe with everything in it, is acquired, created only as a necessary appendage to ourselves. Around us men and women were born only to admire us and to respond to our various needs and requirements.
