Book: The interpretation of dreams

From my attempts synthetically to form the dream thoughts underlying it, I know the material, resulting in the interpretation, has a different value. One part of it form the essential thoughts, which are thus completely replaces him in the dream and could serve as his replacement, if dreams there was no censorship; another part can be grouped under the name of the collateral thoughts; in General, they represent ways in which a real desire arising of thought, is transferred to the desire available in the dream.

Dream is not what has the most value in mind, and what is contained in them repeatedly;

First of all, dream takes into account the overall relationship of all the elements of the thoughts behind it, in such a way that connects all this material in one piece in the form of some situation or event. Logical link it passes in the form of simultaneity. It does, however, still as an artist, which depicts, for example, all the philosophers or poets in the same school in Athens or of Parnassus, which never, of course, were not there together, but thinking of view are undoubtedly an indivisible whole.

The more engaged in the interpretation of dreams, the more I am convinced that most dreams of adults have basically sexual in nature, and gives expression to erotic wishes. This can make sure, however, is only one who really analyzes dreams, that is, from the manifest content of the latter passes to the behind him thoughts: explicit content will never reveal the sexual nature of the dream.

All large, rich, excessive and exaggerated in the dream is undoubtedly the nature of childhood. The child has no more ardent desire than to become an adult and to receive as much as adults; the child is hard to satisfy: it requires constant repetition of what he liked or was good. Be moderate, modest, he learns only through education; as you know, the neurotic also is inclined to immoderation and exaggeration.

The reasons for the conflict between mother and daughter arise when the daughter grows up and meets the mother of his opponent's sexual freedom, maturity daughter reminds her mother that it was time to give up their own sex life.

"Die" - means to the child, which is generally spared from dying of sufferings, the same as "go", to let more survivors. He does not distinguish in what way does the absence, departure or death.

Another group of dreams which may be called typical, is related to the death of close relatives, parents, brothers, sisters, children, etc. Among these dreams can discern two kinds: one, during which the sleeper does not feel the heavy sorrow and upon awakening surprised at their insensitivity, and others, during which grief and loss can cause a real bitter tears during sleep. Dreams of the first variety we will leave aside; they cannot be called typical. When analyzed we see that they mean something very distant from their content and what they are intended solely to cover any other desire.

One of the most powerful stimuli intrinsic properties true, of course, the General health of the subject. It does not determine the content of the dream, but encourages the latter to make a choice of material which is to form the dreaming, bringing a portion of the material corresponding to its essence, and pushing back another.

We were not surprised, for example, when the spinster draws his tender feeling for animals, when the old bachelor becomes a passionate collector, when a soldier protects his blood speckled piece of matter called the banner, or when Othello is enraged at the sight was found a handkerchief, are all examples of psychic displacement.

Dreams of young children often represent a very obvious wish-fulfillment and therefore, in contrast to the dreams of adults are almost completely uninteresting. They do not contain any difficult puzzles, but, of course, extremely valuable as evidence that the dream in its very essence represents the realization of desire.

I feel compelled to say that the dream really matters and what is really possible a scientific approach to its interpretation.

The technique described by me in the future, different from the antique equipment in this one essential point: it requires the dreamer of the work of interpretation. She drew attention to the fact that comes to mind about that particular element of the dream dreamer, not the interpreter of dreams.

Dream about the exam is observed only in people who passed this exam, and never from those that failed.
