An owl is a politician who puts on the guise of free-thinking, incorruptibility, philanthropy and, seizing a moment, plunges a knife into the back of any one victim, or even an entire nation.

I am an owl, an ugly owl, I kill to feed myself and to feed my chicks - I do not kill for the sake of killing. You accuse me of sometimes destroying a brood of birds, but you exterminate everything that lives.

Perhaps it seemed strange to you to imagine Wisdom in the form of a gloomy and ugly bird, a friend of darkness, which, as inaudibly as death itself, swoops in and kills.
