We sit on the second hand that separates the past from the future, and it moves so fast that we hardly notice this movement and think that we are frozen in place, frozen in modernity, while time continues to flow; everything behind the second hand is the past, everything ahead of it is the future; and we sit on this second hand and leave along with the flow of time.
