Character: Robert Langdon

Faith requires, so to speak, "acts of faith". A believer needs to take seriously miracles, no doubt immaculate conception and divine intervention. In addition, faith prescribes a certain code of conduct. The Bible, the Koran, Buddhist manuscripts... they all contain almost identical requirements, violation of which is set to the same punishment. They say that hell awaits me if I don't follow this behavioral code. It's hard for me to imagine a God who governs the world in a similar way.

What is the point to change the world, if the world does not see?

- People will die, but disaster can be avoided. This requires nature. The problem should be solved without delay.
- Mass murder for the sake of rescue of life is the logic of tyrants.
- For the common good of humanity...
- Genius does not give you more rights!
- Yes, but it requires to act when others will not!
- You want to do something? Then shout loudly! Invent, run!
- One who loves humanity, who loves this planet will do anything to save her.
- The greatest sins in human history were committed in the name of love. No looking back, don't call it love.
- They will live. Who cares what they say about us?

Well, if you ask Mason, he offers the following definition: masonry is a system of moral norms, hidden in symbols and veiled allegories.
- Simply put, some crazy cult?
Wild, you say?
- Well, Yes! - exclaimed the student, rising. I heard what they were doing! Conducting creepy rituals with coffins, and nooses, drink wine from the skulls. In your opinion, it's not weird.
Langdon gave the audience a glance and said,
Who else thinks this savagery?
- Yes! - chorused all.
Langdon sighed dramatically:
Bad. If you are crazy, you will never become a follower of my cult.
The students were silent. The Sorority girl startled.
- You are a follower of the cult?
Langdon nodded conspiratorially and whispered:
- Don't tell anyone, but on the day of the pagan sun God RA, I kneel before an ancient instrument of torture and partake of the ritual symbols of flesh and blood!
The students stared in horror at the Professor.
He shrugged his shoulders.
If you wish, come Sunday at Harvard chapel, knelt before the crucifix, and accept the Holy Gifts.
All embarrassment was silent.
Langdon winked.
- No stigma, friends. We all fear what we don't understand.

I know you want to run but I won't let you. Sooner or later you have to learn to trust someone.

The days of the goddess were considered. The pendulum has swung in the other direction. Mother Earth became a men's world, gods of destruction and war were making up for lost time. Suppressed for two millennia the male ego has escaped.

Someone told Langdon that are mythological metaphor of running to meetings members of alcoholics anonymous, discussing the situation drunks sitting in front of a glass of drink and his brain says that alcohol will damage him, but the heart seeks comfort it may give. Morality in this case, obviously, is: don't think you're the only one so tight, even the gods couldn't get along with each other.

It is a conflict between Apollo and Dionysus - a famous mythological dilemma. The world-old war between heart and mind, which seldom want the same thing.

- I read that in the United States, approximately sixty percent of all healthcare costs spent on patients living the last six months of his life.
- Right, and even though our mind says "This is madness", the heart demands: "don't let grandma die let him live a little longer."

Who better than a group of eighty men, bound by vows of celibacy, better to tell the world how to have sex?

Terrorism... always puts before itself one goal. What is it?
- The murder of innocent people.
- Wrong. Death is only a byproduct of terrorism.
- To demonstrate the power.
- No. More striking manifestations of weakness than terror in the world.
- To cause fear
Exactly... the Goal of terrorism is to cause fear and terror. These feelings erode the power of the enemy from the inside... cause unrest among the masses. Terrorism is a manifestation of rage. Terrorism is a political weapon. When people see that their government is powerless, they lose faith in their leaders.

To the question, there is no right answer, there is only one fair way out of the situation.
Neither Yes nor no.

Sophie leaned back in his seat, and Langdon watched her lips flashed a smile. And then suddenly recollected that he's smiling just from ear to ear.
