If we carefully consider the feelings of intense lust or anger, we can see that the root of these experiences lies in our partial attitude towards the object towards which they are directed. And if we continue this consideration at a deeper level, we will find that at the core of all this is our passionate attachment to our sense of self, or our ego.

People in one culture may find food disgusting that is considered a delicacy in another culture. We can even “develop a taste” for food by learning how to enjoy something we previously considered unappetizing. All this reveals to us the fact that such a reaction is our subjective projection and the basis for it does not exist by itself in any of the objects we perceive.
