In short, you give to those who really need an opportunity to breathe and say, "I don't want to." Don't make them repeat: "I don't know what I want." They know their brain knows.
They are where they are precisely because they do want - not fame, not success, not millions, but just quiet, normal, full of simple pleasures of life. Why not? What's wrong with that?
If we really believe that every person has the right to their life, give them (or yourself) the opportunity to quietly live their (or your) life without a sense of shame that you are not justified in any and it is unclear whose expectations.
