It dawned on me that music is not just fun for the sake of pleasure, to entertain and please people. I thought about the old jazzmen I knew who couldn't stop playing and how the music they played was a personal voice to each of them that no rich man could ever silence. I had a deep desire to be a part of it, I knew that such a sound cannot be faked, you have to live every note.
