“Destroy them,” Madame Delphi said, completely as if nothing had happened, so carelessly that it took Donna a while to get it all right.

Donna was not going to let this take over her thoughts - mainly because this was the question she had already asked the Doctor, and the answer more than satisfied her.

She says Chiswick is empty. I told her to stay home, have tea and keep the TV on. I said to do whatever the BBC says, unless it involves leaving the house or stopping drinking tea. She did not understand the comic.

Because the new Donna, although disappointing, realized that Sylvia Noble today might have wanted and needed to cry.

And thank God - her life was now a trillion times better.

Her family life was a real chicken and egg situation. Was she useless at home because her parents let her be, or did her mom think she was useless because she was?

Whatever the Doctor did with her memories, it made her brain accept the story and find a way to reconcile it, so she was convinced that this was indeed what happened. Perhaps that was the only good thing that came out of the "accident" - her brain did it to cope with it, instead of a year or so of emptiness, if you put a thought in her, she could give it a rational explanation without question. Like a puzzle, any piece of which didn't fit, just reshaped its edges to make sure they fit and formed a slightly different picture, but one that Donna wouldn't question.
