The poet must constantly improve. Skill is talent multiplied by labor. The musician degrades without playing, the Poet stops without creating.

Good poetry is never created in the forms of twenty years ago, for if a poet writes in the old manner, he draws from an outdated life. And once life changes, both the form and the content of poetry change. The new poetry must be completely devoid of the sentimentality and demeanor of the old. It should be transparent and strict.

Yes, the poet likes it when many people listen to him. But a real, charismatic poet, first of all, sings for himself. Like a nightingale. Sings, for he cannot but sing.

Poetry, like everything else, either has no value, or is infinitely significant - it's all about the mindset.

In poetry there must always be a riddle, this is the purpose of literature; there is no other than the evocation of images.
