Book: The silent patient

A newborn is innocent, it's still a clean sheet. The baby has only very basic needs: eat, drink, defecate, and to love and to be loved. But something can go wrong depending on circumstances and a particular family, where the baby was born. A child who was subjected to torture and violence, unable to take revenge in real life, because he is defenseless and weak, but he can - and likely will - produce in your mind a fantasy of vengeance. Rage and fear, never occur without cause.

Bad not born. As noted by Winnicott, "the baby may hate the mother in only one case - if the first hate your own child."

When I went up the hill, eyes filled with tears. I cried not for mom, not for myself, not even for the poor homeless. I cried for all of us. There is so much pain and we just turn a blind eye... the Truth is that we all fear. We are horrified from each other.

That night was played in strong snow storm. Mom came to my bed, I pretended to be asleep, and then snuck out of the house into the garden and stood under the falling snow. Arms outstretched, I was chasing the falling snowflakes and watched them slowly melt at the fingertips. I was happy and sad at the same time - and, frankly, couldn't put it into words. My vocabulary was too small to catch is a network of words. Probably to catch the disappearing snowflakes is how to catch the happiness, when the acquisition ultimately does not give you anything. It reminded me that there is, outside of the parental home, the whole world: a huge, indescribably beautiful world. The world, which is still unavailable to me. Snowy night in the garden stood before my mind's eye for many years. As if the hardships which that life was surrounded, made this moment of freedom even brighter - as if a tiny light in the midst of hopeless darkness.

We are born with a half formed brain, which is a rather a lump of clay and not of God the Olympian. As said psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott: "Separate the concept of "child" does not exist." Human development occurs not in isolation, but only in interaction with each other. We form and finish this process invisible forces that we don't remember our parents. Scary, isn't it? Who knows what humiliations and punishments we experienced in the time when memory is not yet formed? Our personality has already been formed, and we didn't even know about it

Suppressed emotions do not disappear. They are buried alive, but eventually they will break out in a much more hideous form.

Worth giving something a name and you immediately cease to see the whole picture or understand why this is important. You Balk at the word itself. But the name is only a tiny part of the phenomenon, the tip of the iceberg.

The hardest, Theo, to realize that we are not loved when we most needed it. A terrible feeling of pain of a man who loved.

How often do we have a strong sense for "fireworks" - from destructive thrill. We forget that true love brings peace and tranquility.

Choose a loved one - about the same as to choose a therapist. Namely, to directly answer a few questions: will this person be honest with me, if adequately perceive criticism, I will be able to admit their mistakes and will not give impracticable promises?

We are all crazy, but each in its own way.
