The memoirs of the commander of the cavalry brigade Yakov Arkadievich Melkumov is the story of an active participant in the fight against Basmachism in the territory of the current socialist republics of Central Asia.
From 1920 to 1932, the author of the memoirs spent hiking in the mountains and deserts of Eastern Bukhara and Khorezm. Warmly and fondly remembers Melkumov of his comrades in the struggle - heroes-Turkestans. Some of them remained unknown to this day, others were undeservedly hammered.
Melkumov's memoirs are strictly documentary, and the reader will read with interest the pages that describe the collapse of the Bukhara Emirate, the fall of the Khiva Khanate, the fight against the international adventurer Enver Pasha and the leader of the Basmachi gangs of Eastern Bukhara Ibrahim Bey.
