For most of us, especially for business people, in whose eyes nature does not exist at all, except that it contributes to their advantage, the sense of the fantasy of real life is extremely dulled. And Mr. G. tirelessly and incessantly absorbs it, and his memory and eyes are full of it.
Apparently, it is natural for a person to seek, to investigate the truth. If we are not busy with urgent matters, not absorbed in heavy worries, nothing excites us to such an extent as the desire to see, hear, comprehend what we do not yet know. Then we consider it necessary for our happiness to know miracles, of which nature seems to have made a secret for us. Indeed, there is nothing more befitting to man than truth in all its purity, in all its simplicity.
Let us consider what a powerful remedy philosophy gives us against diseases of the soul. These means undoubtedly exist, and nature was not so hostile to the human race that, having squandered so many substances useful for the body, it did nothing for the soul. On the contrary, she showed us all the more affection because the medicines for the body are outside of us, and the medicines for the soul are contained in herself. But the more, the more divine their action, the more attention should be used with them. Reason will show us these medicines, a mind which, well directed, will always discover the highest good, and which, if neglected, falls into a thousand errors.
The one who has known himself feels that he has something divine in him. His thoughts and deeds will be worthy of this precious gift of the gods. When he himself takes himself as the subject of his reasoning, when he subjected himself entirely to analysis, he will understand to what extent nature has endowed him with the means to rise to wisdom.
We must all understand that all living things that are created by nature are unique. Each of us is unique. There has never been a person like me before me. And after me there will never be such a person.
Nature has always evolved, carried out natural selection among inanimate matter, and then among living matter. When man tried to cope with plague and smallpox, nature threw AIDS and a dozen other diseases, each of which is worse and worse than the previous one.
Those natural mechanisms that nature has built into all living creatures may work when it comes to amoebas, insects, fish or lizards, but we already know what to do with a person better than slow and blind nature.
