All images of Dante are borrowed from the real everyday world of Italy. Purgatory and hell were experienced by the Ravenna exile quite realistically during a life that surpassed Dante's fantasy in cruelty, and only the pictures of a radiant, many-circle paradise were the subtlest play of the imagination of a dying person.

Sometimes, during the collision of some everyday events, some ancient properties of a person suddenly flare up and transform him.
