Chapter 11

A woman, after all, is just a female, her soul is only a reflection of the soul of a man; she is absolutely devoid of logic and does not know how to reason. However, religion is supported by this reckless creation and it is a curious fact that despite the unconditional superiority of a man, a woman has repeatedly managed to stir up the world and overthrow the plans of the wisest kings and advisers who, logically, should have overcome her. In our time, it has become even more difficult to cope with a woman.

She was well aware that if failure to follow the rules did not entail punishment, there would be no rules at all. Like any good mother, the church should spank its children when they misbehave. Let the punishment fit the offense.

Rather, the memory of unanswered prayers - so simple and uncomplicated - made her more careful in faith, more circumspect in desires.

Religion, a church that does not help a person to know himself, but only takes a bribe for his mediation between a person and God and instills fear and uncertainty in souls.

We cannot truly understand religion unless we believe in it.

Morality itself is needed because it helps to ensure public order; however, it leads to inner emptiness. No one can comply with the moral standards that are established by most religions, and therefore most of humanity lives in a state of constant guilt, shame and fear. This is a tragically mutilated existence. Humanity also leads to social order, but it does not require any external compulsion.

If the most uncivilized peoples rise in one way or another to the idea of a god or a supreme being, then they rarely forget to feed their fears in the form of dark concepts, which, for lack of better application, serve them quite satisfactorily as the devil.

In Mexico, hearts were ripped out for the sun god. In ancient Britain, servants were ritually strangled and buried with their masters. Commoners accused of witchcraft were crushed with large stones and burned at the stake. In the Tokyo subway, people were gassed. Fully fueled planes with passengers crashed into skyscrapers. If only we could rebel. All of us who died unjustly for the sake of the mad Gods. There would be a lot of us.

The Almighty acts through assistants, and each of them is responsible for something. You Christians call them angels and saints. We call them deities or orishas, but their essence is the same - to fulfill the will of God. If you do not see these creatures, it only says that you are not yet able to see.

I understand perfectly well that politics is rarely able to maintain honesty and loyalty, that it corrodes frankness, kind-heartedness, and accommodatingness from the heart. In worldly matters, unfortunately, this is even too true. But can we really play with God in the same way as with each other? Should we remain indifferent to our tried and tested creed?

The performance of all the rituals leads to some inner comfort: I went to church on a holiday, prayed - and was right, I sinned, repented - and again I was right. It was good and convenient, all the more convenient because outside the church there was no need to think about everything churchly, but to be guided by completely different everyday rules.
