I rehearsed alone for a long time and then asked the director to listen to me laugh, because I had to be sure that I could do it on set in front of other people. I didn't want to imitate laughter, I wanted to find it.

I always really liked it when people laugh. And I still like it! Then there were Leonid Engibarov, Oleg Popov, Yuri Nikulin - stars. But it didn’t work out: after the army, my worldview changed, I started working at a factory, and the circus faded into the background, leaving self-activity. Life turned out differently, but I don’t regret anything. Being an artist, I can be a clown, a mechanic, a driver, an astronaut - anyone. And the dream of making people laugh came true.

How often joy does not cause laughter!

We all survive on positive emotions. And only positive emotions prolong life. This is good, this is light, this is good music, this is delicious food, this is laughter, this is good news from the screen, and this is an important thing in life - hope for a bright future. And when you have hope in the darkness all the time, naturally, you don’t even want to live.

I can't boast of having many enemies, I don't even remember having them. They patronized me, helped me, and sometimes took advantage of me, but I don’t remember fighting with anyone for myself. There have always been friends in my life - real, faithful ones, who accepted everything that is mine and in me as it is, without restrictions or regulations. I am grateful to them, and I tried to answer them with joy. Although, of course, it did not always work out this way.
