Book: The morality of the 21st century

The richer the global showcase of goods offered becomes, the more sad and depressed a person feels.

Most people equate happiness with the possession of property, turning it into a synonym for pleasure. There is no doubt that the world is obsessed with consumerism and people take pleasure in the very act of buying things, thinking that it brings them happiness. The highest achievement of the consumer market is the creation of an international community of identical consumers, devoid of will and the ability to think, who, like drug addicts who need the next dose to continue the illusion of happiness, are ready to distort and adapt moral standards to themselves in order to achieve their goal.

There is no consensus in the world about morality, but there is an unspoken conspiracy to consume the same goods.

Any activity - study, work, social events, sports, entertainment - contains elements that can increase a person’s alienation from his essence.

Humanity does not have true ethics and cannot follow morality because the normal behavior of people is mechanical and impulsive, and there are no strong real ethical standards in their program.

Modern television is perhaps much more powerful than the Soviet experiments to create invincible and fearless soldiers, while modern media has created a huge crowd of obedient consumers, equalizing all people in the world through the consumption of the same goods.

The ordinary man is but a servant, an obedient instrument, obeying the orders of the information residing in his brain.

The madness of modern life has deprived man of the will and sanity necessary for him to act consciously. Mechanical, stereotypical behavior has become the norm and has dulled higher abilities, making it impossible to give a correct assessment of things and phenomena.

Advances in science and technology give us a deceptive sense of power. This reduces a person's ability to self-criticize and does not allow him to see that there is a huge gap between his idea of civilized humanity and reality. In this cruel world, wars and conflicts do not stop; in different parts of the planet, people die every day from hunger and violence.

A process in which the consciousness of an individual or group of people is changed so that behavior becomes the opposite of what can be expected from the person.

In the modern world, everything seems to be specially designed to turn people into a crowd, that is, to “demoralize” or destroy their morality through merging with the crowd. Demoralization directly leads to loss of the meaning of existence and, as a consequence, to moral degradation.

Television is a huge force that homogenizes and unites people into a crowd.

A characteristic feature of the crowd is that in it a person loses his individuality. This is also true for a flock of sheep: the herd instinct makes each of them go where the others go.

True morality is a manifestation of character; it must be realized only freely and consciously. This is why the people who make up the crowd cannot behave truly morally.
