Analytics plays a huge role in the development of the intellectual potential of the nation. Modern processes of state and municipal management, business and production generate huge amounts of data. How to extract the maximum useful knowledge from heterogeneous information collected with varying degrees of accuracy and expressed in different dimensional units? How to create new methods for analyzing semi-structured problems? How do you do this efficiently if the amount of data is measured in gigabytes or even terabytes? How to build algorithms that use the available information to make effective management decisions? These and many other problems cannot be solved without solid theoretical and methodological analytical developments.
The author shows the historical roots of analytics, widely presents the foreign experience of the "thought factories" with the allocation of positive aspects that can be used in Russian conditions, reveals a wide range of issues related to the methodology, technology and organization of information and analytical activities. The applied aspects of analytics, those basic elements that are necessary for a person of intellectual work, are revealed in detail and in detail. The author's understanding of the "working methodology", systemic and synergistic analysis of problems, optimal ways of making management decisions is presented. The creative laboratory, a kind of "kitchen" of analytical work, those "rational grains" that actually make analytics effective and significant for management processes are revealed.
Many managers may find the ideas outlined in the book useful, which are worth adopting, so to speak. Hence the title of the book, since it is analytics that acts in modern conditions as an effective intellectual weapon in the competitive struggle of states and corporate structures.
Despite some controversial points in the book, the author as a whole managed to create a useful, deep and serious work.
I sincerely recommend this book for undergraduate, graduate students, faculty, scientists, analytical department staff, as well as for all business people who want to think and act more creatively and productively.

The turbulence of geopolitical processes is growing. Even despite some positive signals. The erosion of international law also continues. Attempts to use force to push through their interests continue to strengthen their own security at the expense of the security of others. Regional armed conflicts, the risks of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the activity of trans-border criminal groups, drug trafficking and cyber criminals are of serious concern. International terrorism continues to pose a particular threat. I repeat: the scale and global nature of the identified problems requires the pooling of efforts of all states. Since its inception, it is the UN that has been and remains the foundation of the system of international relations. The main task of this authoritative and generally recognized organization is to prevent a global conflict and a new world war. It is under the auspices of the UN that any new rules of the game should be formed. The other is the path to chaos and unpredictability. We never dictate our will to other countries. We are ready on an equal footing, using political and diplomatic methods, to participate in solving global and regional problems, to expand creative cooperation with all countries. We develop our defense potential based on the principle of reasonable sufficiency. And we are not striving for a decisive one-sided advantage and an overbalance of the balance of power in our favor. Especially in such a sensitive area as strategic stability. But we will never allow someone to throw this balance onto themselves.

This collective work is devoted to little-studied issues of the ecology of forced labor used in the Gulag in the 1930s-1950s. The authors (historians from Russia, Great Britain, Germany and the Usa) base their research on large amounts of documents from the previously secret archival funds of soviet punitive agencies - the OGPU, the NKVD, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. The first part deals with the general issues of forced labor in the USSR in the 1930s - 1950s, the scale and structure of the camp economy, the evolution of its management system. The special methods of combining coercion and stimulation of labor of the gulag prisoners are shown, the phenomenon of corruption in the system of camps is considered. In the second part of the book, the economics of the Gulag are explored in regional and sectoral dimensions. Here, the focus is on the use of forced labor in those areas of the country where the Gulag workforce played the most important role (in the Far East, in the Arctic, in Karelia, as well as in Siberia and the Urals). The authors examine the organization of forced labor, its productivity and the degree of efficiency on the archival material of the largest objects of the Gulag, including the White Sea Canal, the Norilsk Nickel Committee, Dalstroy (magadan's gold mines), as well as in the rural economy and logging operations. Archival data on the work of prisoners of war and special settlers are also involved.
