When the human spirit spurs and unleashes its thoughts, it is no longer able to stop, but naturally rushes from one extreme to another, from high to low, from good to evil; in the initial flight of imagination, he usually is carried away to the most perfect and lofty ideas, but, entering such areas from which it is no longer possible to distinguish the boundaries separating height from depth, he, in the same impulse and keeping the same course, falls headlong down to the very bottom of the abyss ...

Why do people kill and steal? Because other people push them to these extremes. For example: why a person who earns millions a month cannot help an unemployed person or someone in need, but instead buys a tenth car for himself, which he will not even drive!

This desire took possession of him and did not let go, sometimes pulling him in with such force that he rushed to extremes, just like a drowning man in search of salvation clutches at a straw.

Humility is a poisonous flower, from stagnant waters - expect infection; energy is eternal pleasure, good is passive, evil is active; the latter is born of energy, the path through the extremes leads to the palace of wisdom.

This indifference had its own rhythm. It rolled and released again, and with it the mood jumped from extreme to extreme, from hot to cold, back and forth, like a pendulum.

What surprises me the most is that I could not, even out of twenty-eight of his letters, reveal what direction he was and what, in fact, he was trying to achieve? It's kind of a mess... Next to the rudeness of the receptions, with the cynicism of the red nose and the "upset smell" of the frenzied syllable and torn boots, there is some hidden thirst for tenderness, something perfect, faith in beauty, Sehnsucht for something lost, and all this goes out somehow to the extreme in it disgustingly.

People are not equal by nature - an endless continuum: from idiocy to genius, two extremes (two diseases?).

The closer to the extreme, the more predictable you are.

On the way from extreme to extreme, we sometimes find ourselves in the middle - the one that is called the golden section.

To turn passion into love, you need to find many common interests and provide each other with emotional support.

and sad. And on this easy and relaxed love, you can slip through three or four years of marriage.
And then affection joins love. Attachment occurs when another person
becomes a part of our lives. He is always somewhere nearby, and this calms, creates a sense of stability and predictability. What's predictable is safe. Stability and security are as necessary for us as food and sex. The man falls asleep with a pleasant feeling: "I will get up in the morning, slippers at the bedside, toothpaste in the bathroom, my wife - in the kitchen, coffee cooks. And in the evening, when I come back, we will watch the film together, talk, we will have sex." He can work as an advertising manager, a policeman, a neurosurgeon, but he needs coffee, slippers, a wife at his side, in the evening a movie and chatter about everything, at night marital sex. Sounds unromantic to the extreme. But without stability, there is no happiness.

Having reached the last extreme, the man, no longer understanding, grabs the most extreme means. Woe to the defenseless creatures around him! He has no more work, no earnings, no bread, no fuel, no courage, no goodwill; he immediately loses everything. Outside, daylight is extinguished, inside - a moral torch.

Youth is hot, proud and too fair.
